Varicose veins are more than just a cosmetic issue. They can cause pain or discomfort, as well as lead to more severe complications like blood clots, bleeding, leg ulcers, or deep vein thrombosis. This may also be an indication of an underlying vein issue. Large, swollen, and unsightly, varicose veins usually appear on a person’s legs. While most varicose veins don’t cause any discomfort, many people want to get rid of them for cosmetic reasons. Unfortunately, there is no miracle drug that can help you heal your varicose veins. However, several minimally invasive procedures target vascular lesions and provide excellent results for most patients.

Medusa Aesthetics and Laser‘s customers come from all over California to receive their laser vein treatment.

What are varicose veins?

Varicose veins are twisted, discolored, and knotty veins that can appear on your legs. There are several risk factors that contribute to the occurrence of varicose veins, including age, genetics, sex, and weight. They are often caused by blood pooling in the legs. When this happens, the valves in your veins weaken and allow the blood to collect in one place. Once the blood gets collected in a vein, it becomes enlarged and swollen and turns blue or dark purple.

Vascular lesion treatment

One of the most common procedures that prove to be very efficient against vascular lesions is laser varicose vein treatment. The science behind the procedure is quite simple. The laser is directed at the vein and the heat from the laser damages the walls, sealing the vein. Thus, the vein gets closed and loses its source of blood. Scar tissue forms after treatment, and the body naturally absorbs the dead tissue. After some time with no source of blood, the vein fades away and eventually disappears for good.

The procedure is usually performed under a local anesthetic. Our Vascular Lesion Laser treatment allows patients to spend less time or no time in the spa after they get treated. Moreover, the treatment significantly reduces the chances of bruising following the procedure, and you are free to return to all normal activities the next day.

Varicose vein treatment with Splendor X is among the first treatments we began administering at Medusa Aesthetics and Laser. Our team has comprehensive experience with a wide variety of medical procedures. Each patient is a top priority when they walk in our doors.

What can I expect during the procedure?

The laser treatment is performed right on the surface of the skin. The whole process happens beneath your skin’s outer layer, so there’s minimal discomfort and no need for short-term recovery time. During the treatment, you will be given protective eyewear to ensure that there’s no interference with vision. As the targeted vein is heated by the laser, it can initially create some discomfort or an uncomfortable sensation beneath your skin. The sensation is similar to a rubber band being snapped on your skin. To avoid this, you may be given a warm compress to place over the area being treated as well as ice packs to place over the area after treatment.

The SplendorX laser treatment is performed outside the skin which makes it a great choice to treat the varicose veins located just under the skin’s surface. For more in-depth procedures and for people with poor blood circulation, doctors usually recommend other procedures, such as sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy, which is a saline solution that gets injected into the vein should not be confused with laser therapy.

After the laser procedure ends, you can return to your regular daily activities right away. The procedure takes between 15 and 30 minutes for one leg. In most cases, the patient needs more than just one varicose vein treatment session. During a free consultation, we will discuss options, and how many treatments we think would best help reach your goals.

At Medusa Aesthetics and Laser, the first step prior to any procedure is a consultation. During this consultation, we will review your medical history, evaluate the problem area, and discuss your goals. Based on this consultation, we’ll determine a unique solution for you with treatments that will best achieve your goals based.
